A seventh generation Texan, a second generation University of Texas at Austin graduate, Jennifer Severn, Attorney-Mediator, is proud to work, live and raise her daughters in her native Austin. Licensed to practice law in 2006 and a former Assistant Attorney General for the Child Support Division of the Office of the Attorney General, Jennifer has helped many families undergoing divorce or separation, and has helped parents enforce existing orders. While in law school, Jennifer was selected by the Center for Legal and Social Justice in San Antonio to serve as a student attorney, where she represented clients applying for US citizenship. She also represented asylum seekers while volunteering at American Gateways in Austin.
Jennifer received her mediator certification in 2013. She completed her basic 40-hour mediation training and the advanced family mediation training at the Dispute Resolution Center in Austin, Texas, training under nationally-recognized leaders in the field of mediation and alternative dispute resolution. Jennifer is especially passionate about using the mediation process to create amicable agreements for families undergoing relationship changes.
Prior to law school, Jennifer worked for several technology companies in Austin, including The University of Texas Apple-Authorized Repair Center, Apple Computer and Dell Computer. She credits her time in the technology field for honing her ability to find efficient solutions to complex, technical problems.
In her free time, Jennifer enjoys teaching and practicing yoga. She is also a member of the PTA at her daughters’ elementary school and volunteers with Girl Scouts of Central Texas.
